Rette Jones Racing, Kyle Steckly Pick Up the Pace Heading to Toledo Speedway
TOLEDO, Ohio: In the homestretch of the 2025 ASA STARS National Tour season, Kyle Steckly and his Rette Jones Racing team head north to Toledo Speedway for Saturday’s 37th annual CorvetteParts.net Glass City 200, looking to keep making noise as they close out the year.
Steadily, the Mooresville, N.C.-based Rette Jones Racing team and their developmental driver, Kyle Steckly, have worked through a slower-than-expected start to the season, finding both frustration and flashes of success through the summer months.
Now, with a fall breeze cooling down tracks across the Northeast, Steckly and Rette Jones Racing aim to keep their presence hot all the way to the season finale at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway in early November.
In the series’ most recent stop at Owosso Speedway last month, Steckly quickly established himself as a contender by posting strong practice speeds before earning his first pole of the season for the Michigan 300 — setting a new track record in the process.
He dominated the opening portion of the race, leading 115 laps, but trouble struck in Stage 2. While battling inside the top five, Steckly began sliding backward until the team discovered a nearly flat right-rear tire.
Forced to restart from the rear, Steckly leaned on the speed in his No. 30 machine to mount a comeback, but his rally was cut short by a right-front brake failure that triggered a chain of issues.
As if that wasn’t enough, he soon began losing power under the hood, eliminating any chance of contending for a second ASA STARS National Tour victory.
Still, Steckly never quit behind the wheel, digging to the finish and salvaging a hard-earned eighth-place run in the Great Lakes State.
Now, left to wonder what might have been, he returns to the legendary half-mile oval on the Michigan–Ohio border, determined to pick up right where he left off.
“Although it wasn’t the result I wanted, the speed our Rette Jones Racing team showed made me incredibly proud of all the hard work we’ve put in and has me excited for the final three races,” said Steckly.
The son of NASCAR Canada Series champion Scott Steckly returns to Toledo Speedway with both experience and confidence on his side following a successful debut at the ARCA-owned half-mile.
In his first start last year, he qualified on the front row with an outside pole effort and brought home a solid sixth-place finish.
Now, back in the Buckeye State, Steckly has his sights set on delivering back-to-back poles and improving on the foundation laid during his rookie season.
“I’m looking forward to our return to Toledo Speedway,” added Steckly. “We have shown good speed there before and we have made really strong gains on our Port City car.
While the Milverton, Ontario, Canada native is well aware of the fundamentals it takes to negotiate the Toledo Speedway short track, Steckly knows his weekend could be an uphill climb with a different compound of Hoosier tires expected for the anticipated 200-lap slugfest.
“I think the biggest challenge will be getting the car where I want it to be on a different compound of Hoosier tires compared to what we have been running,” explained Steckly.
“We’ll need to adapt quickly in practice, but I feel like our Rette Jones Racing team has been really strong at adjusting to changing conditions. If we can dial the car in early, I’m confident we’ll be in a position to qualify up front and contend for the win on Saturday night.”
To stay sharp between ASA STARS National Tour events, Steckly has competed in several Late Model races, where he hasn’t just contended for wins but also delivered strong, attention-grabbing finishes.
“I’ve really enjoyed running the Late Model in between ASA races,” Steckly said. “It keeps me in rhythm, helps me stay aggressive behind the wheel, and I feel like the extra seat time has made me a better driver heading into these last three races of the season.”
Sitting sixth in the championship standings entering the prestigious Late Model event, Steckly is focused on maintaining his upward momentum and breaking into the top five — a goal he set for himself earlier in the summer.
“I’m hoping to finish the year off strong and hopefully break into the top-five of the points standings,” Steckly said. “It’s been a grind this season, but our team has shown so much speed and resilience.
“If we keep executing the way we know we can, I believe we’ll end the year on a high note and carry that momentum into 2026.”
Much like his outlook from Owosso Speedway last month, Steckly won’t be satisfied leaving Toledo with anything less than a podium finish in the ASA STARS National Tour’s CorvetteParts.net Glass City 200.
“I would be satisfied with racing in the top three and being in contention for the win with my No. 30 APC Auto Parts Centres | Canusa | Rette Jones Racing Ford Mustang,” Steckly mentioned.
“We’ve shown we have the speed to run up front, and if everything comes together, I believe we can put ourselves in a position to battle for the victory.
“My goals for the rest of the ASA STARS National Tour are to consistently race up front and be in contention for wins. My mindset is to win every single race I go to, no matter what car I’m in, what track it’s at, or where I’m racing.”
Auto Parts Centres (APC) | Canusa will again be featured on Steckly’s No. 30 Ford Mustang this year in ASA STARS National Tour competition.
APC Auto Parts Centres | Canusa is a family-owned automotive parts business started in 1981 with over 65 branches stretching across Ontario.

Mark Rette, Steckly’s crew chief and co-owner of Rette Jones Racing, understands how critical the final stretch of the season is for the No. 30 team.
With back-to-back top-10 finishes at Anderson and Owosso, Rette — a former ARCA championship-winning crew chief — believes Saturday’s 100-mile showdown is another chance to showcase the strides they’ve made this year.
“We’ve been building speed and consistency throughout the season, and Kyle has done a great job growing with every race,” Rette said.
“The Glass City 200 is always a tough event, but if we execute, I think we can show just how far this team has come and leave Toledo with a finish that reflects the effort everyone has put in — and more importantly, keeps us pointed in the right direction for Winchester and Nashville.”
In addition to back-to-back APC United Late Model Series championships (2023 – 2024), Steckly’s accolades include seven APC United Late Model Series wins, the 2023 Grisdale Triple Crown Champion and Gold Rush 123 winner, along with multiple podium finishes in the NASCAR Canada Series.
